High Impact Society is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that utilizes the power of community to bring together young professionals who identify as Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC), multi-passionate humanitarians, thought leaders, and trailblazers with a shared set of values. Together, we unite our expertise to uplift nonprofit organizations dedicated to creating social impact.
What We Do
At High Impact Society, we offer direct services in our areas of social impact and empower partnering organizations through expert services in strategic planning, grant writing, government relations, and strategic partnerships. Leveraging our extensive network, we advocate for positive change in the BIPOC community, fostering sustainable impact and a more equitable society. Together, we work towards creating lasting change, amplifying voices, and building a brighter future for all.

Who We Are
Our MISSION is to create a national network of Black, Indigenous and people of color that cultivates relationships in the spirit of friendship and community to implement purpose-driven projects that optimize positive social impact in the following areas: arts and mental wellness, education equity and access, environmental racism and food insecurity, and sustainable development.
When we come together for a good cause, it allows us to open the door for new opportunities through meaningful connections, collaboration, and providing space for innovation. We also create an ambiance where the synergy is unmatched and have a greater chance of positively influencing social change.

Natashia Townsend
Founder
Natashia has a strong passion for storytelling, developing impactful programming, and creating solutions to complex organizational challenges. She has focused on community transformation throughout her career with an emphasis on creating brand awareness for socially conscious agencies by assisting in nonprofit board development and governance, strategic planning, community outreach, grant writing, and relationship building.
With over 13 years of experience working with purpose-driven organizations and a strong track record of producing measurable results, she remains committed to advocating for positive systemic change and improving the social and economic well-being of BIPOC and low-income individuals.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology as well as certifications in organizational management, strategic planning, and conflict resolution which have contributed to her success in developing powerful community-based programs.
Pershetta Slack
Board Member
Pershetta Slack (MBA) Is a Grant Writer and Funding Strategist; California Native, Wife, Mother, Author, and thriving Entrepreneur. As CEO of P.S Independent Business Consultants LLC., a California-based consultancy firm (PSIBC), Pershetta is committed to serving her community and peers as both an advocate and champion of social change, empowerment and upward mobility.
Pershetta brings 16+ years of diverse professional experience, honed skills and business acumen within arenas of sustainable funding and nonprofit management. Pershetta excels at leveraging networks and beneficial partnerships; as well as, demonstrates passion and purpose by educating and supporting entrepreneurs, businesses, and organizations of every scale.
Pershetta and her proprietary brands demonstrate immeasurable value to fellow entrepreneurs, companies, teams and organizations seeking funding and capital. With proven success as a Sr. Grant Writer, garnering more than $4.2 Million in Private, State, and Federal grant funding to include Government bids and contracts; Pershetta Slack is both a force and a movement, rapidly emerging as a respected authority and trusted leader within the Grant Writing Community and Business Industry.
Kyle Johnson
Board Member
Chef Kyle is a community activist out of Long Beach, CA. From the onset of his professional career, he’s been on a journey to share the experience of his plant-based lifestyle for the purposes of mental and physical healing, with the people in the communities he grew up in and around.
After making solid connections in the agricultural and culinary industries by way of managing local farmers markets, Kyle founded the nonprofit organization, Market LOVr. Since 2015, Market LoVr has served the communities of Long Beach, Compton, and South Central Los Angeles through donation-based pop-ups, free cooking demonstrations as well as teaching basic cooking skills classes for K-12 students. With a focus on nutrition education, Market LoVr empowers the community to make healthy lifestyle choices.
Since the start of the pandemic, Chef Kyle has continued to assist individuals and families in need by providing access to affordable healthy food options through the operation of his pickup food service as well as hosting private in-person and virtual group cooking classes.
Natasha Brown
Board Member
Born and raised in Southern California’s San Gabriel Valley, Natasha always had a passion for helping people and examining society’s means of She currently supports members of the California Black Power Network as part of the Organizing and Training team by coordinating Network members, providing training and support in capacity building
Natasha joined California Calls as an Organizing Coordinator with the Black Census and Redistricting Hub in April 2021, working primarily with organizations in Los Angeles, Inland Empire, and San Diego providing support to ensure Black communities engage in the redistricting process. Prior to joining California Calls, Natasha organized in communities of Los Angeles and Orange County contributing to the flip of CA Congressional Districts 25, 39 and 45 in 2018. Most recently, she worked as Communications Coordinator on the Bernie Sanders campaign. She is extremely happy and grateful to have found a home with the California Black Power Network, fighting for the advancement of California’s Black communities.
Natasha has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Communications from University of California, Riverside. She loves to hike, play soccer and spend time with family.
Jasmynn Smith Abernathy
Board Member
Jasmynn Smith Abernathy is a California-based Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She obtained her master's degree in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University in 2012 and has since worked in various settings, including the child welfare system, non-public schools, community mental health programs, and non-profit organizations.
Jasmynn currently owns a private practice, Willow Therapy and Counseling, where she supports individuals and couples in healing their relationships. She focuses on overcoming trauma, managing difficult emotions, reducing burnout, and enhancing relationship connections.
Jasmynn resides in Southern California and lives a full life as a wife to her husband, Joshua, and a mom to her young son. She is intentional about maintaining emotional wellness in her own life by incorporating mindfulness practices, exercise, and taking breaks to travel.
Tyler Epps
Board Member
Tyler Epps is a California native that specializes in talent recruitment and building brands through internal and external communication. Tyler has a passion for people, authenticity, storytelling and community building which has proved to be evident throughout her collaborations with mission-driven organizations and projects that create lasting social impact.
Tyler received her Master’s in Communications from the University of San Francisco while simultaneously serving on the institution’s Progressive Policing Community Advisory Board. In her current professional role, she focuses on digital content creation and relationship marketing.
Tyler maintains a balanced and peaceful life while engaging in hobbies such as cooking healthy foods, planting, and traveling across the world to learn about various cultures and gain well-rounded perspectives.
